Ways to help PBRC Operate and Grow
We are so grateful for your interest in supporting our cause at the Permian Basin Rehab Center. Your desire to promote the welfare of your community can be fulfilled in a variety of ways and can be tailored to fit your wishes. Please see below some of the most common types of charitable giving that can make a huge impact on the lives of those seeking a better quality of life.
Cash, Check or Credit Card
We always accept direct mailing of a check, cash or making a donation online by credit card. If you wish to be billed monthly, quarterly or annually, you can always call us to set up a billing structure that works best for you. Your donation is completely tax deductible, but you should know that the first year deduction can not exceed 50% of your adjusted gross income. If your donation is larger than that, you may claim deductions in the following 5 years up to the maximum amount. We will provide you with the necessary tax documents to make your tax claims.
Memorials and Honors
You can honor the memory of someone special or to celebrate a happy event such as a birthday, anniversary, graduation or other special occasion. Simply ask guests at your event to consider making a gift to PBRC instead of bringing gifts. A personal card, bearing the name of the person honored and the occasion is sent to the honoree or to the family. We would also be pleased to send an acknowledgement to you as well! We have gift envelopes for you to give to your guests, they can contact us directly, or you can direct them to our online donation portal. Please contact us for more information on this option.
Fundraising Events / Sponsorship
PBRC holds fundraising events throughout the year to both raise money for our patient assistant program and to celebrate our donors. By sponsoring an event via table reservations at our Steakout or sponsoring an hour on NewsWest 9 during our annual Telethon you will be part of an effort to make sure that no patient is turned away due to financial circumstances. Stocks, Bonds and Mutual Funds
You might want to consider talking to your financial adviser about donating appreciated securities to PBRC. A benefit is that you can avoid the capital gains taxes and you may be able to take the full market value of the gift as a charitable deduction. The maximum deduction is limited to 30% of your adjusted gross income. If you are unable to take the entire deduction in one year, you may carry the excess deduction forward for five additional years.
Personal Property and Real Estate
Often donors obtain valuable assets through art collections, land or other forms of personal property that make for great contributions. By donating such items during your lifetime, you can reduce the size of your taxable estate and you may also receive a charitable income tax deduction in the year of the gift. When you make an outright gift of real property held for more than one year, you obtain income tax charitable deductions equal to the property’s full market value. This deduction allows you to offset the cost of making the gift and may free cash that otherwise would have been used to pay taxes. You may also avoid capital gains taxes on the property’s appreciation.
Mineral Rights
If you own mineral rights, mineral interest or have signed a lease of land or mineral interest for royalties there are many ways you can choose to give to PBRC. They include an outright deductible gift or various charitable annuities or trusts that can be established in an agreement between the donor and the donee.
Wills
A will is a legal document that directs the distribution of your estate after your passing. This can include liquid assets, real estate, and personal property. We recommend discussing your options with an attorney to ensure your wishes are followed.
