We have a dedicated social worker for patient services.
The social worker at the Permian Basin Rehab Center is here to help assist you with any needs or problems that you may be experiencing. Her role is to act as a liaison with other community agencies and provide additional support when needed. Whether it is coordinating transportation, assisting with additional funding sources, or connecting our patients to support groups the social worker is an integral part of patient care at the Rehab Center.
Clinics
When faced with an unexpected diagnosis, the fear of making the wrong decision can be overwhelming.
The free clinics offered at the Permian Basin Rehab Center help families navigate the uncertain waters that come when a baby is born prematurely or with a diagnosis of cleft lip and palate.
These clinics are designed to:
- Assess patients’ needs and make recommendations
- Monitor development
- Educate parents and families
- Provide professional support
These resources are offered at absolutely no cost to you, which is only possible because of our generous and faithful supporters. With the Permian Basin Rehab Center, you can rest assured that you will have a helping hand every step of the way!
Developmental Clinics
Babies born prematurely or with other complications at birth are placed in the NICU in the hospital. The developmental clinic is designed to monitor development after the baby is discharged from the NICU. Initial assessments are completed in physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and audiology. Once initial assessments are completed, the patient is eligible to begin attending the developmental clinic.
One time each month families are given the opportunity to attend the developmental clinic. During the clinic, every family meets with our social worker and each child receives a developmental screening by occupational, speech, and physical therapists. This allows our team to gauge all areas of development to ensure that early intervention can occur when needed. Parents are provided with education, training, and resources during the clinic.
Parents are able to ask questions and seek guidance from the therapy team. Following the screening, the therapists will make recommendations. Our team follows each child until they turn five years old.
